Sonoma Valley Business Climate

Among the many ways that Sonoma Valley supports business development:

The City of Sonoma does not levy a gross receipts tax.  The City's business license fee is calculated using a low annual base rate typically ranging from $74 to $186 plus a per-employee charge of $37 or less.  IMG_3520.JPG

The City of Sonoma does not have a utility users tax, nor does the unincorporated area of Sonoma Valley.

A "Project Advisory Committee" provides early-stage input from various City departments on private development projects, at no charge.

Regulatory streamlining efforts include a recent update of the City's sign ordinance, allowing more types of business signage to receive over-the-counter approvals.

The Economic Development Advisory Committee, with representatives from the Chamber of Commerce, City, and County, meets monthly to guide implementation of various strategies to support business retention, expansion, attraction, and creation.
